Have you ever thought about what legacy you will leave behind? It's a sobering thought, but one that can inspire us to do great things. Whenever I think about the fact that one day I will pass away and people will only remember what I did for them and the impact I had on their lives, it motivates me to take action and do what needs to be done. What about you? What kind of impact do you want to have?
As long as you choose to leave behind a positive impact, let me unveil 5 tips for showing love to your family.
1. Communicate
Unquestionably, we may not have much time, especially with work and personal activities in the way but life is too short to just hustle and make money without finding time to enjoy the work of your hands or at least enjoy with the people you work hard for.
If you live or are far from home make it a goal to call or text your family and give them updates even just to talk and laugh don't make it a habit to only call when there is a problem or an emergency.
What if you don't live too far away? It would be great if you could visit your family and surprise them with some fresh fruit. Even a quick visit to say "hi" will show them that you care. Although it may require a longer drive, it will be worth it to spend some quality time with your loved ones.
What if you live with your parents, how then could you show love to them?
2. Action
It's true that in some cultures, people don't express their love for each other with words as much as in others. However, showing kindness and care for those around us is always important.
For example, if you see a pair of dirty shoes at the front door and you know one of them belongs to your sibling, instead of just cleaning your shoes, why not clean both pairs of shoes? These small acts of kindness can make a big difference in how we show our love and appreciation for the people in our lives.
3. Keep away the device
Have you ever ignored a family member because you were using your device? Or gotten lost in in a conversation because you received a text? No matter the reason why even if it was your boss calling In the long run, you would realize that the text was not as important as listening to your siblings and it truly hurts to not be able to turn back time to pay attention to what they have to say.
It's always a good idea to devote your complete attention to your loved ones when you're spending time with them. To do so, you can keep your devices aside or switch off your internet and eliminate any distractions that might take away from your time with them. This way, you can have more meaningful interactions and make the most of your time together.
4. Gifts
I know what you may be thinking when you see this point, you'll be like “Where would I get the money”. Surprisingly It's not about the amount of money you spend on the gift but it's about the motive, the love, and care behind the act. It is always a good idea to get stuff for your family it could be something as small as their favorite snack or as big as a surprise party, anything to make them feel loved and cherished. When they truly feel your love, then you have met your target.
